Part 5: Assigning Article categories

Introduction

One of the great features of NewsRaider is the way its content is divided up into categories. Each article can have one or all of the following categories set:

  • Source: This is the only category that must be set and it contains the source for the news articles, such as BBC News, CNN, Hollywood.com and so forth.
  • Primary Category: This is the top level category for articles, it must be one of the following:
  • Secondary Category: This holds category information that comes under the Primary Category, for instance if the Primary is Sport then this may be Tennis.
  • Region: This category holds information about the geographic region to which the article refers.
If your script does not assign a value for a category then it will automatically be given the value "Unspecified". It is generally good practice to fill out the category information as much as is possible based on the site content.
